Depression Glass & Doilies! - August 20
I made a perfect centerpiece to match the
table covering. I secured a piece of oasis to the seat of one of my little wicker doll chairs!
I've been collecting Depression Glass for over thirty years. When I
first started, I promised my husband that I'd never buy anything I couldn't set a table with. 1400 pieces later, I could
set a different table every night for the rest of my life and never duplicate the tablescape! I love to use the colored
glass and don't hesitate to mix it with more contemporary pieces. It is really all about the color with me ... not the
age! This picture features Old Colony candy dishes, which I often use as a salad plate. The dish has a little
depth, yet isn't shaped like a bowl. The green swirl plate is Depression Glass, but the stemmed glasses are (pink)
Fostoria Mignon pattern and the green is by Chris Madden. I love this combination.
The doilies featured in these pictures are from a long-time collection of
mine. I've had to buy them, although my husband's mother and grandmother tatted, they didn't use color. I have
to have color!
These sweet little votive holders came in sets of several
soft colors. They added a real pretty note to the tablescape.
It's hard to see the little pink relish dish on the left. The pink, three
part dish was made by Ancho Hocking in the 1940's.
The spoon on the salt cellar has a little tiny silver cap on the tip of
the handle. I love serving artisan salts to my dinner guests!
The yellow bread and butter plate tops a napkin embroidered with a dragonfly.
The plate is Depression Glass in the Princess pattern.
I have little collections of lots of things! I've used other pieces
of doll furniture to hold the votive candle cups. How cute!?
